Frequently Asked Questions
1) How much do Abyssinian kittens cost? Kittens, when available,
are $600. They will come with their shots and be either spayed or
neutered as the case may be for their gender.
2)
Why do you sell only spayed or neutered Abyssinian kittens?
There are too many unwanted kittens, cats, dogs, puppies that are killed
every day in the local impoundments in almost every city in the United
States. By insuring that my kittens will not reproduce, we insure that
we are not contributing to that problem.
3)
Do you ever make any exceptions? No.
4)
Do you have a sales contract? Yes, please follow this link to
view the terms and conditions of sale:

5)
Can I return a cat? If for any reason you can no longer care
for your cat, we will take the cat back at any time. We will find a new
home for the cat if possible, and refund to you any money that comes
from the purchase of your pet, less the cost of boarding and health care
of the cat until a new home is found.
6)
Do you guarantee the health of the cat? We guarantee the
health of your Abyssinian cat/kitten for 30 days. We strongly recommend
that you take your new Abyssinian kitten/cat to your vet with in three
days of purchase to verify the health of the cat/kitten. After 30 days,
we can not guarantee health as we have no control of what they are
exposed to in your home. The immunizations and care they have had prior
to purchase should provide the protection the cat/kitten needs to adapt
to its new environment. We do guarantee the inherited genetics aspect of
feline health of your new cat/kitten against genetically inherited
diseases known to affect Abyssinian at the time of sale. Our kittens and
cats will have all their immunizations prior to leaving our home and
will be free of fungus or parasites. We care a great deal about the
animals in our care so we do not spare expenses in maintaining the
health of our cats.
7)
What else should I know about a new Abyssinian kitten? There
are so many things that it is hard to quantify the “what else’s?” That
is why when you pick up your new Abyssinian cat/kitten, we provide
contact information so that you can contact us at any time to answer
those questions as they arise.
8)
Why should I trust you about your cats versus someone else’s?
You should NEVER blindly purchase a pedigreed cat from us or anyone else
for that matter. DO YOUR RESEARCH. Here is a list of links to sites that
list breeders of Abyssinians as well as other cat breeds and other
information that you should read prior to committing to the inclusion of
kitten in your household:
http://www.cfainc.org
Make sure that this is what you want.
Pedigreed cats are expensive for the most part and you do not want to
purchase a cat that does not suit you and your families personalities.
Check to make sure that the breeder is reputable. Call other breeders
listed and talk with them or email them and get and compare their
responses. The more you know about the breed you are choosing the
happier you will be when they are at home. Lastly, you are making a
lifetime commitment to that animal that you will love it and care for it
for as long as it lives. The average lifespan of a cat is about 14 to 18
years with proper care. Some live longer, others shorter periods. If you
are not willing to make that commitment, DO NOT buy one of my cats or
anyone else’s cats or kittens. ALL the breeders we know and respect feel
the same way. We want you to be happy and we especially want the
products of our breeding programs to lead long happy lives with people
that love them.
9)
Will you ship your cats? No, not generally. We can not
control the environment that a cat is subjected to when on a plane or
other public transportation. There have been a number of horror stories
about cats and dogs left on the tarmac at airports for hours in 90
degree plus heat as well as very cold temperatures without water or
care. We prefer to hand deliver our cats to the people we have talked
with and interviewed before sale. If you live in the Southeast U. S., we
can generally drive to meet you to deliver your cat. If you live
elsewhere please contact us and we will refer you if possible to a
breeder near you that we personally know.
10)
What about declawing? We forbid this practice in our
contract. The CFA feels so strongly about it that the rules of the
organization do not allow a cat to be shown that has been mutilated in
this fashion. There are a number of practical considerations. First, a
cat CAN BE TRAINED not to claw your furniture. It requires patience and
gentleness and not frightening the cat by hitting or other abuse. If
this is a concern please let us know and we will be happy to discuss
training methods. Another point against this practice is that it can
(and most frequently does) change the personality of the cat. A loving
cat will become an aggressive animal that bites, hisses at people and
other animals, and in general acts the part of a frightened creature.
The reason is simple, the means that nature has endowed the cat with for
escape and defense has been taken away. The cat knows this and most
often reacts accordingly. We have heard all the stories about so and
so’s cat was declawed and did not behave that way. ------How do you
know?--- Did you ask the cat or the owner that wanted the animal
mutilated in the first place? If you plan on doing this, PLEASE DO
NOT ASK TO PURCHASE ONE OF OUR CATS! (See the first sentence.)
